Today, We Celebrate Life After Cancer. Today Is National Cancer Survivors Day.

Saturday, June 06, 2020

Today – June 7, 2020 – is National Cancer Survivors Day® 2020. Welcome to the celebration! Cancer survivors and supporters around the world are celebrating with you today.

As we commemorate this 33rd annual National Cancer Survivors Day®, we come together – as cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, and friends – to champion all people who are living with a history of cancer and to bring attention to the ongoing challenges they face.

Today is a day for all of us to take a stand for cancer survivors, to make a commitment to help lessen the burdens of cancer survivorship. It is a day to advocate for more resources, research, and legislation to improve cancer survivors’ quality of life.

It is also a day to celebrate.

Today, we celebrate the research initiatives, the medical breakthroughs, and the treatment advances that are allowing cancer survivors to live longer, healthier, more active lives than ever before. We also celebrate the personal milestones, no matter how small. We celebrate the researchers, the advocates, the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and most importantly, the survivors.

Today, we celebrate life. It may be messy and complicated and unpredictable at times, but it can also be beautiful, meaningful, and inspiring. And that's something to celebrate!

Who is a cancer survivor?

The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation defines a survivor as anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. National Cancer Survivors Day® offers your community an opportunity to show that it has a valuable and vital cancer survivor population, as well as to make a commitment to improving the lives of cancer survivors.

Let’s raise awareness of the challenges of cancer survivorship.

More Americans than ever are surviving cancer. However, despite their growing numbers, cancer survivors often must contend with rapidly rising drug costs, inadequate insurance coverage, difficulty finding or keeping employment, and ongoing physical, psychological, and financial struggles.

Today, we want to send the message that life after cancer is something worth celebrating, and a better quality of life for cancer survivors is worth fighting for. Join us by sharing a post like this one to your social media pages:

Life after cancer is something worth celebrating. And a better quality of life for ALL cancer survivors is worth fighting for. Let’s #CelebrateLife and raise awareness of the challenges of cancer survivorship. #NCSD2020
