07/04 – Currently: Assistive Technology Specialist

Vocational Evaluation Services, Sacramento, CA.

Currently I assess the rehabilitation technology and adaptations needs of individuals with disabilities, as well as provide them with installation, set-up, and training, for computer systems, assistive listening devices, augmentative communication devices and appropriate ergonomic equipment. Also I evaluate the work sites of these individuals and design or re-design their workstation in order to prevent injury or re-injury. Train them in correct ergonomic physical positioning and movements, and make recommendations for technology, furniture, or positioning which will prevent injuries and/ or improve their functioning at work.

08/02 – 04/03: Assistive Technology Consultant (Volunteer)

Sunrise Macular Degeneration Association

Did research into assistive living devices and technologies that would benefit individuals with Macular Degeneration. Worked with individual members to assess their need for assistive devices. Worked with the president of the organization to develop organizational by laws and provided the organization with administrative support.

08/01 – 05/02: Adaptive Technology Assistant (Student Intern)

Sacramento City College, Disability Resources Center

I provided assistive technology training to students with a wide range of

disabilities. To meet the needs of these students I gained experience

working Jaws, Zoom text, Kurweil, and Dragon Naturally Speaking, as well as, all

aspects of Microsoft’s Operating Systems and Office Applications.

04/00 – 03/02: Test Evaluator

McGraw/ Hill, Mather, CA.

Graded and evaluated standardized English, math, science, and social studies test

for public schools. Provided input to test developers on the appropriateness of

test questions and scoring procedures. Utilized computers and manual methods to

score test.
