EMPLOYERS:

1996- 2006

Calhoun & Associates, Greenwich, CT

Advertising Sales Representative

Calhoun & Associates provides ‘advertising sales representative' services to newspapers and is headquartered in Greenwich, CT. In October of 1996, I was assigned to manage an advertising sales territory for one of their clients, Floor Covering Weekly, a division of Hearst Business Media.

My sales territory grew from producing $900,000.00 per year in 1997 to producing $2,000,000.00 per year in 2005. Overall, my territory produced $17 million dollars in advertising revenue from 1997 to 2006. The majority of my sales contacts were presidents, vice presidents and marketing managers seeking to sell their high-end floor covering products and their accessories to a niche market of specialty floor covering retailers.

Using a laptop computer, Internet technology and a telephone, I was able to sell print advertising and web advertising from my home based office. I was initially expected to sell $1,000,000.00 of advertising per year. With the exception of my first year, I consistently exceeded my quotas. The publisher of Floor Covering Weekly relied on my sales tracking reports and my sales forecasts to provide reliable sales results and sales projections to his group publisher. Administratively, I was responsible for providing insertion orders with advertising placement instructions to the production department and the billing department. These insertion orders were instrumental in ensuring that advertisers instructions were accurately conveyed and that any misunderstandings were avoided.
