1994-current(part-time) : Started my own Office Equipment business, with an emphasis on building custom designed personal computers for people with physical disabilities. Eventually, this grew into a company employing 4 people, selling retail and business-to-business. In 1997, Governor Tommy Thompson awarded my company $5,000 in grants for "best small business" in Wisconsin. Due to the “dot.com” crash, the business is done, with the occasional exception of “word-of-mouth” business.

 

1991 –1994 : Moved to Tampa Florida, to participate in a research program for people with specific disabilities using electrical muscle stimulation. I also took business courses at Tampa College.

 

1989-1991 : Office Plus of Lake County, Waukegan, IL

I was initially hired as an inside sales representative and subsequently promoted to Inside Sales Manager. I earned a significant sales award from IBM. I then made the decision to move to Tampa for additional education and to participate in a research program.

 

1986-1989 : Sunrise Business Mart, Antioch IL

I was hired as an inside Sales Manager and provided training for both retail and outside sales representatives. I also set up a very successful telemarketing program selling photocopiers, office supplies, fax machines, office furniture, etc.

 

1984-1986 : I did not work due to the fact I was involved in a serious auto accident that almost took my life. I spent 11 months in the hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

 

1982-1984 : Sunrise Business Mart, Antioch, IL

I was first employed as a Retail Store Manager and then was promoted to "Outside Sales Manager" and had 4 sales people report to me. I was awarded several sales awards during my tenure.

 

1977-1982 : Kinney Shoe Corporation, New York, NY

I was initially hired as a shoe salesman, promoted in 1978 to Asst. Manager, in 1979 promoted to store manager, completing the management training program with a 100% score, the only Manager in the history of their management program to have a perfect score- *Awards included- salesman of the year, 1978, Top Manager Sales 1980-1982,

audit award, and trained 4 managers. I managed three different locations: Racine, Wisconsin, Deerfield, IL and the largest store in the Midwest in Niles, IL. I employed and managed 32 part-time and full-time total employees and was responsible for all aspects of personnel management and financial management of the store.

Several Sales training certificates through "Tom Hopkins", IBM-“account management and telemarketing, direct marketing programs., Keye, Apple Computer, Kinney Shoe Corp. management program. Met with Lee IaCocoa (Chryler Corp. CEO) personally to discuss “management philosophy” through Kinney Shoe Corporation in 1981.
