9/03 - Current DisabledCommunity.Org – Information Clearinghouse on Disabilities
Founded a 100% volunteer based organization to support people with disabilities, their family, friends, caregivers, and social service agencies. Designed and created website using Macromedia Dreamweaver and other online features such as a search engine, sitemap and a credit card program. Coordinate outreach and marketing program. Fundraised in partnership with the Institute on Disability and San Francisco Sate University Foundation.
9/02 - 3/03 Planning for Elders-- Advocacy for Elders and People with Disabilities
Director - Digital Bridge Program. Managed trainers, mentors, and network administrator at SeniorNet's Dorothy Day Computer Lab (where elders and people with disabilities are trained to use the computer). Community representative at SFGETCARE.org's (SF Department of Aging and Adult Services website) planning and development meetings. Website designer and program manager of IACTSF.org. Organized quarterly meetings for users and managers of San Francisco based computer labs.
3/01 - 9/02 Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly - Support for Isolated San Francisco Elders
Volunteer Services Coordinator. Technical support for staff and developer of internal database which included managing Visual Basic programmer. Recruited and managed groups of volunteers for one-on-one friendly visits and small and large senior events (24 events per year serving anywhere between 6 and 600 elders.) Managed quarterly newsletter, calendar, and email updates to 5,500 volunteers. Conducted isolated elder survey of 200 elders regarding reminiscence and health status to result in final graduate project. Presented preliminary results of study at both the American Society on Aging Conference in Chicago and the International Reminiscence and Life Review Conference in Vancouver, Canada. Using Access, Excel and SPSS to analyze results.
6/00 - 3/01 R etired S enior V olunteer P rogram - Government Sponsored Volunteer Program
Outreach/Volunteer Coordinator. Recruited elders to continue to be active in the San Francisco community by giving back through volunteering. Maintained internal statistics as to how many hours seniors were volunteering quarterly using the national RSVP database. (Results are reported to Congress each year). Gave presentations at senior centers and to community groups about the high levels of well-being reported by those who volunteer. Managed a bi-monthly group of seniors who volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank. Coordinated a telephone friendly visitor mutual support service. Created and distributed press releases, flyers and brochures about RSVP program.
