2016 NCSD logoWelcome to National Cancer Survivors Day® 2016! Tens of thousands of people in hundreds of communities around the world are celebrating life with you today.

On this 29th annual Celebration of Life, cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, and friends will gather across the globe to honor cancer survivors, to bring attention to the challenges of cancer survivorship, and to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be active, productive, rewarding, and inspiring.

National Cancer Survivors Day® is the one day each year that we come together to recognize those who are living with a history of cancer, to raise awareness of the hardships they face, and, most importantly, to celebrate life. NCSD also provides an opportunity for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors and to share what it means to be a cancer survivor today.

Cancer survivors are living longer, better, more productive lives than ever before. And that truly is something to celebrate. However, these survivors still face ongoing hardships as a result of their disease.

Today is a day for everyone to join with the cancer survivors in their community and make a commitment to lessening the burden of cancer survivorship. May today be a celebration of how beautiful life after cancer can be. But let it also be a call to action for more research, resources, and legislation to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day® 2016.
