6.Wayne State is located in Detroit , Michigan , which is a wonderful place to learn and practice medicine. The Detroit Medical Center offers a patient population similar to that of LSU New Orleans (MCLNO). In addition to our urban facilities there are several suburban facilities. I guess one way to get familiar with Wayne State would be to look at the website http://www.med.wayne.edu
In addition to being a great place to learn, I have found the faculty and staff to be very supportive, resourceful and creative in dealing "non-traditional" students, and in particular, students with disabilities. Kate Connors and Mike Webber are two wonderful advisors in the Office of Student Affairs, who have expressed interest in working with students who have a disability. Marilyn O'Brien is the learning specialist in Student Affairs. Dr. Kertia Black is our Dean of Student Affairs and just so happens to be a practicing PM&R physician! These people would be wonderful resources for you in the office of student affairs. You can reach them at (313)577-1463, or by e-mail.
